You just said it RIGHT! READY!

Robert Pershing Wadlow (February 22, 1918 – July 15, 1940)

The tallest man in medical history for whom there is incontestable evidence is Robert Pershing Wadlow, is sometimes known as the Alton Giant or Giant of Illinois because of his gentility in Alton, Illinois. He was born at Alton, Illinois, USA, on February 22, 1918, and when he was last measured on June 27, 1940, was found to be 2.72 m (8 ft 11.1 in) tall. His great size and his continued growth in adulthood was due to hyperthropy of his pituitary gland which results to high level of human growth hormone abnormality.

Wadlow died at 1:30 a.m. on July 15, 1940, at age 22, in a hotel in Manistee, Michigan, as a result of a septic blister on his right ankle caused by a brace, which had been poorly fitted only a week earlier. He was buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Alton, in a coffin measuring 3.28 m (10 ft 9 in) long, 81 cm (32 in) wide and 76 cm (30 in) deep. An estimated 40,000 people attended Wadlow's funeral on July 19. He was buried in a half-ton coffin that required twelve pallbearers to carry, which was interred within a vault of solid concrete. It was believed that Wadlow's family were concerned for the sanctity of his body after his death, and went to these lengths of security to ensure it would never be disturbed or stolen.

Wadlow's utmost recorded weight was 222.71 kg (35 st 1 lb) on his 21st birthday and he weighed 199 kg (31 st 5 lb) at the time of his death. His shoe size was 37AA (47 cm, 18½ in long) and his hands measured 32.4 cm (12¾ in) from the wrist to the tip of the middle finger. He wore a size 25 ring. His arm span was 2.88 m (9 ft 5¾ in) and his peak daily food consumption was 8000 calories.

At the age of nine, he was able to carry his father Harold F. Wadlow, later Mayor of Alton, who stood 1.8 m (5 ft 11 in) and weighed 77 kg (170 lb), up the stairs of the family home.

And here's a list of the tallest people, living and dead, in the world:

Second tallest male in recorded history
(1868 – 1905)

John William "Bud" Rogan is one of twelve individuals in medical history to reach a height of eight feet or more. He was born in Sumner County, Tennessee, between 1865 and 1868. Rogan began to grow very rapidly at the age of 13 leading to ankylosis. Eventually he could not stand or walk. His exact height was not measured until his death. At that time he measured 8 ft 9 in (267 cm) tall[1][2] but weighed only 175 pounds (79 kg), making him the tallest African-American, and the second tallest person, ever recorded. Rogan died in 1905 from complications of his disease. He is an Irish actor who has appeared in many films and TV programmes over the past thirty years. Rogan was born and educated in Waterford, Ireland and was best known as a stage actor in many productions ranging from Shakespearean plays to musicals and contemporary drama. His full CV in the theatre is formidable.

Once held the Guinness title of tallest living person but refuses to be measured by the Guinness Book under new guidelines.
(1970 - Present )

Leonid Ivanovych Stadnyk (Ukranian) is a living man renowned for his stature. He was formerly listed as the world's tallest living man according to Guinness World Records. Craig Glenday editor-in-chief of Guineness World Records, harbingered that the title of world's tallest man had been returned to China's Bao Xishun after stadynk refused to be measured under new guidelines, last August 20, 2008, which required him to be independently measured by Guinness World Records arbitrators.

Performed in various circuses and even wrestled the mighty Louis Cyr.
(1881–1904)

Edouard Beaupré (January 9, 1881 – July 3, 1904) was a circus and freak show giant, strongman, and a star in Barnum and Bailey's circus. Beaupré was the eldest of 20 children born to Gaspard and Florestine (née Piché) Beaupré in the newly-founded parish of Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan, Canada, and was the first child to be baptized in the parish. Beaupré did not appear abnormally large at birth, and for the first three years of his life, his growth was relatively normal. However, Edouard's growth rate then increased dramatically, so much so that by age nine he was six feet tall, and by the age of 17 his height was recorded at 7'1". In 1902, Edouard's height was measured at 8 feet 2.5 inches and he weighed over 400 pounds. His death certificate describes him as being 8'3" (2,52m) tall and still growing.

Sultan Kösen (born 10th December 1982) is a Turkish man who is the current record holder of the tallest living man in the world as recognised by Guinness World Records. He is one of only twelve individuals in medical history to be confirmed at a height of eight feet or more. Kösen's height was recorded at 2.465 m (8 ft 1.0 in) in his home country by Guinness World Records, at August 25, 2009, overtaking former world record holder Bao Xishun who stands 2.36 m (7 ft 8.9 in) tall. Giant African Millipede

While I was doing my PPC Adwords account management for TonerBoss. I came across this interesting creature that mostly found in the eastern part of Africa. This creepy crawly and the largest in the world is a full grown African giant black millipede (Archispirostreptus gigas) which is owned by Jim Klinger of Coppell, Texas, USA and measures 38.7 cm (15.2 in) in length, 6.7 cm (2.6 in) in circumference and has 256 legs.

Facts:

Archispirostreptus gigas, the giant African millipede, is one of the largest millipedes, growing up to 38.5 centimetres (15.2 in) in length, 67 millimetres (2.6 in) in circumference, and has 256 legs.

It is a widespread species in lowland parts of East Africa, from Mozambique to Kenya, but rarely reaches altitudes above 1,000 metres (3,300 ft). It lives mostly in forests, but can also be found in areas of coastal habitat which contain at least a few trees.[2] It is known in Zulu as amashongololo.

Gigas is black in colour, and is often kept as a pet. In general, giant millipedes have a life expectancy of about 7–10 years.[4] Giant millipedes have two main modes of defence if they feel threatened: curling into a tight spiral exposing only the hard exoskeleton, and secretion of an irritating liquid from pores on their body. This liquid can be harmful if introduced into the eyes or mouth.

Largest "Man-Ape"

My busy virtual mind brought me to the natural world of West Africa, the home of the largest "man-ape". Yes! you are not dreaming! HOME OF THE LARGEST MAN-APE!

Still amazed!?

Now, here's the evidence!

LARGEST MONKEY

The male mandrill (Mandrillus sphinx) or "man-ape" of equatorial West Africa has an average head and body length of 61-76 cm (24-30 in) and a tail length of 5.2-7.6 cm (2-3 in). Adult males weigh an average of 25 kg (55 lb), although specimens weighting up to 54 kg (119 lb) and measuring 50.8 cm (20 in) to the shoulder have been known. The mandrill is also one of the most colourful mammals, recognized by its naked vivid-blue rump, red-striped face and yellow beard.

HABITAT:

The Mandrill is found in the tropical rainforests and occasionally woodlands of southern Cameroon, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, and Congo. Its distribution is bounded by the Sanaga River to the north and the Ogooué and Ivindo rivers to the east. Recent research suggests that mandrill populations north and south of the Ogooué river are so genetically different as to be separate subspecies.

BEHAVIOR:

andrills are social animals and live in large groups, primarily including females and young and led by a single dominant male. Most adult males are solitary. It is difficult to accurately estimate group size in the forest, but filming a group crossing a gap between two forest patches or crossing a road is a reliable way of estimating group size. The largest group verifiably observed in this way contained over 1300 individuals, in Lopé National Park, Gabon — the largest aggregation of non-human primates ever recorded.[8]

The Mandrill is an omnivore and acquires its food by foraging (mainly plants, insects and smaller animals) from the ground as it is terrestrial. Although the Mandrill does not normally hunt larger prey, males have been observed to hunt and consume duiker (a small antelope).

Its main natural predators are leopards, pythons and humans. Attacks on subadults by African Crowned Eagles have also been reported. Mandrills are hunted for food throughout their range, either with guns or using dogs and nets. In Cameroon, habitat loss to agriculture is also a threat.

A large group of mandrills can cause significant damage to crops in a very short time, and where common they are widely perceived as pests.

REPRODUCTION:

The gestation (pregnancy) time for the Mandrill is 6–7 months and young are usually born between January and April. However, the mandrill mates throughout the year during the estrous cycle, which occurs once every 33 days. The interbirth interval is typically 13–14 months.

COURTSHIP:

Canadian Researcher William Sommers has found that during courtship, the female will walk after the male. If the male is interested he will stop and turn towards her. He will then mount her and they will copulate.

PARENTING:

Mandrill infants are born with their eyes open and with fur. They have a black coat and pink skin for the first two months. They cling to their mother's belly immediately and can support their own weight. Mothers form bonds with their children. These bonds last into adulthood with the daughters, while the bonds with the sons last only until the males' sexual maturity. These bonds entail the two sitting with each other and grooming each other.

What an amazing mammal!
